Day The North / South All-American Game will move from the traditional college football game day of Saturday to Monday January 19th in 2009. Moving the game and having it played on a national holiday not only separates the All-American Game from other games, but will also build game awareness and an all-star game tradition by making it easier to remember each calendar year. President Darry Alton stated, “ I look at this opportunity to play the North / South All-American Game on Martin Luther King Jr. Day an honor. There is no school and most people are off work for the day, so not only do we have the opportunity to honor a great man, we can also hope the spectator turnout will grow throughout the years because we are not going up against the NFL play-offs which gives football fans the opportunity to come out. The Senior Bowl, East-West Shrine Game, Hula Bowl are played when? All-Star games in general have an awareness problem as to when they are played.
